Airdate: Special Ops: Lioness

New thriller series from Taylor Sheridan stars Zoe Saldaña, and features Morgan Freeman & Nicole Kidman.

US thriller series Special Ops: Lioness, from Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King) will screen on Paramount+ in July.

The series stars Zoe Saldaña, Laysla De Oliveira, Michael Kelly, with Morgan Freeman, and executive producer Nicole Kidman.

It also features Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Stephanie Nur and Hannah Love Lanier.

Special Ops: Lioness, inspired by an actual US Military program, follows the life of Joe (Saldaña) while she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA’s spear in the war on terror. The Lioness Program, overseen by Kaitlyn Meade (Kidman) and Donald Westfield (Kelly), enlists an aggressive Marine Raider named Cruz (De Oliveira) to operate undercover alongside Joe, among the power brokers of State terrorism in the CIA’s efforts to thwart the next 9/11.

The series is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Jill Wagner, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Malone and John Hillcoat.

Special Ops: Lioness is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios for Paramount+.

There’s quite a lot of movie pedigree invested in the making of this series and Paramount+ does need this show to succeed, Taylor Sheridan is becoming a Paramount+ savior writing and producing a number of successful made for TV Paramount+ productions that by chance also attract one or two Hollywood celebrity movie stars. After watching the trailer Special Ops: Lioness looks to have the creative edge over the recent Prime Video ‘spy’ thriller Citadel, so I will certainly be watching.
